ABOUT
WHAT IS THE ALTA PROJECT?
The Alta Project is a partnership-based international relief and development organization that partners with local leaders, creating solutions to 7 major challenges in Maasai and Turkana villages in Kenya.
7 ALTA INITIATIVES:
We create access to clean drinking water
By providing clean water systems, lives are saved, children can focus on their education, and entire communities are changed.
01
We mobilize local leadership
Through motorcycles, we’re strategically mobilizing leaders to reach the unreached. This provides employment and transportation to distribute malnutrition packs.
02
We help keep girls safe and in school
By distributing reusable feminine hygiene kits, we are able to help young girls focus on their education all 4 weeks of the month.
03
We invest in micro-loans
We possess the local capacity to finance 100 micro-loans every month. These women who have received loans have now made thousands of products.
04
We empower self-employment
05
Over 500 women have begun various micro enterprises. Dozens of women are using indigenous artisan skills to start their own businesses.
We feed the
most vulnerable
06
We believe that no one should go hungry. We have provided over 250,000 meals in our first year and are committed to feeding the most vulnerable in Turkana.
We help eliminate waterborne illness
By providing deworming medication, we are helping children fight against malnutrition and iron deficient anemia, as well as other challenges.
